All conference abstract books must be submitted online by one of the authors of the book and should not be submitted by anyone on their behalf. The submitting author (typically the primary conference planner) takes full responsibility for the conference abstract book during submission.
Effective January 2021: The URNCST Journal will publish the abstract book of any multidisciplinary research conference or case competition free of charge. Conference planners wishing to publish their event’s abstract book should contact the editor directly at manuscript@urncstuk.org for full terms and conditions.
To expedite publication, please review these submission instructions carefully and ensure that your manuscript fully adheres to URNCST Journal formatting requirements.
Many research projects may be part of a professor’s larger study. Publishing in the URNCST Journal does not prevent future publication of overlapping work in another journal. All abstracts are published with the understanding that the conference planning committee has provided sufficient guidance to authors regarding republication policies. Both planners and authors should be aware that other journals may not permit overlapping publication.
Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format only (DOC or DOCX).
The Title Page should include: (1) the full title of the conference including the year and/or nth occurrence, (2) full names, institutional affiliations, addresses, and email addresses of all authors, and (3) identification of the corresponding author.
Only the first letter of the first word of the title, letters following a colon, and proper nouns should be capitalized. Abbreviations should not be used in the title. Authorship should follow the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be listed in the Acknowledgements section.
The title should state the full name of the conference including the year and/or nth iteration.
The abstract should follow URNCST Journal instructions and may include details such as conference location, theme, categories of submissions (oral, poster, etc.), and relevant resources such as the conference website.
Provide three to ten keywords representing the main content of the abstract book. Keywords should be separated by semicolons (e.g., cancer; biology; genomics).
The Table of Contents should organize abstracts using subheadings relevant to your conference structure (e.g., oral vs. poster presentations). This section should appear on its own page.
All abstracts must be organized in a Word document according to the Conference Abstract Book Template. Each abstract must include a title, list of authors with affiliations, and abstract text. Tables or figures are discouraged.
While a URNCST Journal section editor will be assigned, the conference planning committee is fully responsible for abstract content and peer-review. The published abstract book will include the following statement:
“These abstracts have been reproduced directly from the material supplied by the authors, without editorial alteration by the staff of the URNCST Journal. Insufficiencies of preparation, grammar, spelling, style, syntax, and usage are the authors.”
Authors must declare any real, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest. If no conflicts exist, state: “The author(s) declare that they have no conflicts of interest.” Please clearly identify which authors do or do not have conflicts.
Contributions should be listed using author initials, for example:
ABC: Founded the conference, served on the planning committee, drafted the abstract book, and approved the final version.
DEF: Assisted with abstract submissions and approved the final version.
GHI: Reviewed abstracts for formatting compliance and approved the final version.
Contributors who do not meet authorship criteria should be acknowledged separately.
Acknowledge individuals who contributed to conference planning but do not qualify for authorship. Permission must be obtained from all individuals named.
Please list all funding sources associated with the conference.
