Abstract

The limited natural resource known as soils supports numerous ecological activities and related services. Through producing food, timber, fibre, and clean water, soils not only support human life but also a variety of other ecological services.

The world landscape has transformed as a result of the enormous demand for the services that soils give. Erosion, nutrient mining, and intense agricultural production have all harmed soil ecosystems. With the growing populace the effects of these shifts are estimated to worsen.

Sustainable soil management, conservation and restoration programs, as well as changes in societal consumption patterns, are urgently required. Ineffective actions to stop additional soil deterioration will accelerate climate change, increase hunger, and spread infectious illnesses.
