Abstract

Nurses are very important to the healthcare system, and by 2020, Malaysia will require 130,000 qualified nurses. This research looked at how transformational leadership affected nurses' performance in Kuala Lumpur. Prior research has shown that transformative leadership has a positive effect on the long-term performance of workers. There are not many studies on how transformational leadership affects the contextual performance of nurses in Kuala Lumpur. The present study seeks to address the research gap by investigating the effects of intellectual stimulation, individualized attention, motivational inspiration, and idealized influence on enhanced contextual performance. As part of this quantitative research, 135 nurses in Kuala Lumpur filled out self-administered questionnaires. The SPSS software indicated that contextual performance was favourably linked to intellectual stimulation, customized attention, inspirational motivation, and idealized influence. The findings indicate that the four dimensions collaborate to enhance contextual performance and are interrelated. The study's results are relevant to nursing leadership. Transformational leadership enables the successful implementation of change and enhances nurse motivation. There is a paucity of research examining the impact of transformational leadership on contextual performance among workers in Kuala Lumpur's nursing sector. The results of this study will augment the current knowledge base and facilitate the formulation of essential strategies to improve nurses' performance.
