Abstract

Sustainable construction materials are critical for addressing environmental challenges and reducing the carbon footprint of the construction industry. Identifying key indicators for these materials ensures their effectiveness in promoting environmental, economic, and social sustainability. This study investigates essential indicators such as resource efficiency, environmental impact, lifecycle performance, recyclability, and cost-effectiveness. Through a systematic review of literature and expert consultations, the research highlights the criteria for evaluating materials based on energy consumption, carbon emissions, durability, and social acceptability. The findings aim to guide policymakers, researchers, and practitioners in selecting and developing materials that align with global sustainability goals. By establishing a robust framework for assessing construction materials, this study contributes to the broader agenda of sustainable development in the built environment.
