Abstract

To analyze research conducted before to and after to the enactment of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (2010) that investigates obstacles to seeking or obtaining healthcare in rural areas in the USA. This literature assessment was predicated on an exhaustive search for all scholarly works examining rural healthcare service and access in the USA. The databases Pubmed, Proquest Allied Nursing and Health Literature, the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) Resource Center, and Google Scholar were searched using the Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms ‘Rural Health Services’ and ‘Rural Health.’ The MeSH subtitle titles that were utilized were "USA," "utilization," "trends," and "supply and distribution." The search criteria were changed to include the phrases "access," "rural," and "health care." We used the keywords "health care disparities in the USA," "inequalities in health care in the USA," "health care in rural USA," and "access to health care in rural USA" to search Google Scholar. After removing items that weren't relevant, 34 articles were left. There are big disparities in how people in rural and urban regions may get health care. People in rural regions were hesitant to get medical treatment because of cultural and economic barriers. This was frequently made worse by a lack of services, skilled doctors, public transportation, and broadband internet access. Rural inhabitants exhibited worse health status, since rural regions struggle to recruit and retain doctors and to sustain health services comparable to those in metropolitan areas. There are differences in health care between rural and urban areas. To fix this, we need to keep working on a program that will improve service delivery, encourage the hiring, training, and career development of rural health care professionals, expand health insurance coverage, and get rural residents and health care providers involved in promoting health.
