Abstract
Effective teaching of building materials and technologies is essential for advancing energy-efficient and sustainable construction practices. This study explores innovative approaches to equipping students and professionals with the knowledge and skills required to address modern sustainability challenges. Key strategies include the integration of hands-on learning, digital tools such as Building Information Modelling (BIM), case-based learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Emphasis is placed on understanding material properties, lifecycle performance, and energy efficiency through simulations and real-world applications. The study also examines the role of policy education and emerging technologies, such as smart materials and passive design principles. By fostering critical thinking and practical expertise, these approaches aim to prepare future architects, engineers, and construction professionals for sustainable development. Recommendations are provided for curriculum design to align with global energy and environmental goals.
